Cabinets and football and glasses, oh my

This week I finally finished refinishing our kitchen cabinets, phase one of the kitchen redu. I know I am glutten for punishment doing these big projects while the husband is away. It took a full week to get all the fronts off and refinished and back on. No small task that is for sure, especially trying to finish it up between naps and while the kids were at school. But its finished, I am not sure how I feel about it bieng so dark. It is 100% improvement over the look we had before though. They look new!

Thats not all this week, We had a mild break fromt he never ending rain long enough for the kids to play a game of football ( or what they called football). I laughed so hard when I saw they were wearing their bike helmets. Maddie and her friend made a perfect cheering section, along with every stuffed toy they could find. The game was full of confusion and tears due to a lack of knowing the fundamentals of the game. Still it was so funny to watch.

Today Landon got his first pair of glasses. I was happy to learn that he only needs them for reading etc. I know how rough kids can be on glasses and his pair cost an arm and a leg. He picked an Ed Hardy version with little skulls down the side. He feels so cool and thats what matters I guess. At least he will wear them. Actually he is still wearing them after homework, he refuses to take them off. He has to have bifocals due to some eye muscle disfunction the optomatrist told me about. I am sure there is a fancy name for it, but it escapes my mind a the moment. Anyway, He wanted to pose after homework to show them off.

I almost forgot... I made this cool spider web for our back door with puffy paint. i forgot that you can draw on your glass windows with it. I plan to make a whole family of bats for the front door. I was in a hurry with the web so its a bit sloppy but Landon thinks its sooo cool. thats all the thanks I need=)

Aullwood Apple Fest

Today the kids and I decided to get out while we had the break in the rain and go to the Aullwood Apple Fest. I have to say I was disapointed and so was Landon. First of all this was called an apple fest, I saw a lot of baked apple type things, pies for 20$ =0 and other food related things. Everything cost money inside I was shocked especially since I paid to get in adn its no different than the farm right down the road from our house and its free to go there. The website said Johney Appleseed would be there and after 2 hrs we never saw him. Landon was very upset about this part. I guess they have been talking about it at school. It wasn't all bad, they had animals and the kids enjoyed walking the farm and calling to the turkeys. They made some craft type items and I painted their faces, but still we left feeling like "where are the apples?" I thougth this was an orchard and we would be picking apples and taking them home to make art projects and homemade apple sauce. All in all it was not worth what we paid to go in, but the entertainment was wonderful! Chris Rollins was singing songs about animals that were so funny he had landon in tears about beaver poop. lol He is still talking about that song. So next weekend we will venture out to our first pumpkin patch of the season. I am hoping we see some pumpkins there. lol
I am not happy with the collaged images after having to resize them they look bad=( But its sooo late and I need to get to bed so, it will have to do.

A week in review

So this past week so many funny things happened, but I have been so busy that I haven't had time to breathe let alone post. So today we play catch up. I started a kitchen remodel while my hubby was gone and its been a bit stressful(pics to come). Luckily My Dad and Donna came to visit and helped out a bunch!!! So lets see, I participated in the moms mart last weekend and sold a ton of stuff! WOO HOO!! I also picked up a few Christmas gifts and some other fun things for the kids. I got a grab bag of dress up clothes for Maddie which she felt she needed to wear all at once. I think she looks like the Pink Ladies version of a ballerina. lol  I had to force her to take it off every time we left the house.
Landon had a good week, or should I say great week. He got a birthday present early. Our neighbors wanted to get him this spark scooter and decided it made no sense to wait till Nov. when its cold and wet outside and he couldn't use it, so now they all have spark scooters. Our only concern is that they don't all spark at the same time and catch the grass on fire. =)
Maddie and I joined a moms group in Dayton and attended our first get together. We both had a great time and Maddie created some great fall art for the art wall at home. I look forward to going to these weekly events with her and making new friends. It was a good week, but a crazy one. I am one exhausted momma - now all I have to do is figure out how to be at 2 open houses at the same time and this week will be complete!
P.S. did I mention I squeezed in a senior portrait session in all that? Whew it was a crazy week.

Rollin, Rollin, Rollin, keep that TP Rollin....

So today Maddison was not entertained by her plethera of toys so she created a little indoor game for herself. She rolled out the toilet paper from the bathroom, put on her pretend dress up shoes and played jump the TP for like 30 minutes. At first I was annoyed that she had unrolled it so far and wasted it, then she played the game for so long that I am considering buying her toilet paper for her birthday as a toy=) 30 minutes to myself because of a 50cent roll of Tp, WOO HOO!!

I shampoo my hair mommy

Today was pretty normal, gym, house cleaning, a little bubble guppies and an afternoon playdate. The best part was when Maddison went inside because one of the boys accidently hit her with a toy. She was in there a couple minutes when I went to check. She was siiting on the stairs with the new bottle of watermelon smelly shampoo. She exclaims "I wash my hair mommy"! I almost died. So we had an impromptu hair washing at the sink before resuming our playtime with neighbors. I have to say, she did smell great =)   The day ended with a batch of homemade organic chicken nuggets. MMMMM

A little quiet time

So I hear enthusiastic laughing and giggling coming from our downstairs bathroom. Maddie is at the end of her potty training so I try to give her a bit of privacy, but I peeked just to be sure it was going well and found her making scary monster faces to herself in the mirror and saying" scary face" in her deepest voice. So I decide its harmless take a few pics and go back to the dishes. I then realize it has been a bit quiet for at least 3 minutes and I run to the bathroom to find her covered in thick baby sunblock. She squeels that high pitched toddler teradactyl type scream and says "I want to go swimming mommy". I tried to explain that its downpouring outside and 57 degrees, but I quickly realized that means nothing to a 2 yr old.

Maddies 1st Day

So today was my youngests first day of preschool. I am certainly not one of those moms who gushes and gets teary as my children head off to school. Each of my children are super social bugs. I'll admit I get nervous putting them in someone elses care, but no tears. And they don't shed any either. My daughter being the fashonista toddler that she is had a cute outfit all picked out for this morning. I was hoping the weather would be nice, but we were slammed with a serious cold front. We went from 90's to 60's overnight. So she was disapointed this morning when we had to bring out pants. A concept that is fairly new as the last time she wore them was over 6 motnhs ago. She was not to happy about having to wear socks either. I looked in the closet and picked out the only shirt that had both things she loves, pink and sparkles. She was fine with that as long as she could where her sparkle princess shoes. I have to tell you that she loves these shoes so much that even in the buff running around the house she puts them on. Its hilarious. Underwear and clothing are apparently optional but shoes are a must!
When we got to school she was so excited. She was use to the building as its where she has Sunday school. She went in, we talked about where the bathroom was and she ran off to play and never looked back. Not even a goodby kiss or hug. I admit I was sad about that. Landon always had a ritual, leaving with kisses, hugs and sighning I love you as we walked out the door. Perhaps Maddie and I will find our ritual too. When I picked her up she was all too excited to tell me about all the things she did. Singing songs was her favorite thing of course.
I enjoyed my time at home although I have to admit I cranked the music because it was earily quiet. I cleaned the entire house and it stayed that way for 3 hrs =) Sad right, I had 3 hrs to myself and I spent it cleaning. When my husband is gone I find myself cleaning alot, Sometimes I swear I clean in circles around my kids as they make messes. Plus, its just me so if I don't do it, it doesn't get done.
All in all the day was a success, no tears and fun times for my baby at school. Time really does go fast.
